Buyer Country: South Korea
Product: PGR-10 and PGR-30 Double Jacketed Glass Reactors
Application: Advanced material synthesis (metal-organic frameworks / MOFs) and catalyst testing.
A research institute at a leading university in Daejeon, South Korea, focused on porous materials for gas storage. Their work required precise low-temperature reactions (–30°C) and atmospheric pressure reflux. They purchased one PGR-10 (10L) for initial screening and one PGR-30 (30L) for scale-up.
Both reactors feature 6 neck ports, allowing simultaneous feeding, temperature measurement, condenser attachment, and inert gas purging. The 140W motor on the PGR-30 provides 2.23 Nm torque, sufficient for crystallizing MOFs without breaking delicate crystals. Vacuum degree of 0.098 MPa enabled solvent removal without heating sensitive frameworks.
“The double jacketed design is critical for our MOF work. We circulate ethylene glycol at –30°C through the jacket and achieve uniform temperature across the entire 30L volume. The glass construction lets us watch crystal growth in real time – something impossible with stainless steel. For the price point, nothing else compares."
— Professor Ji-Yeon Kim, Department of Chemical Engineering
The institute also utilized the customization service to add an extra thermowell port, demonstrating the supplier’s flexibility.
